We learned a lot of great teaching techniques in this unit. Specifically, we reviewed three important parts of English: Vocabulary, Grammar and Language Functions. Each one is important, but each must be taught differently. We can use different structures for our lessons depending on what we're teaching. A Straight Arrow ESA could be a good option for teaching vocabulary, but it's not the only choice or even the best in every situation. When teaching vocabulary, students need to know the use, meaning, spelling, pronunciation, and interaction of the word. For grammar, students need to know the meaning, use, forms or patterns, and both the spoken and written forms. Language functions include things like inviting, refusing, suggestion and others. Whatever the lesson is, it's important to keep the student's level in mind so that the lesson is appropriate.
