In this unit I learned the part of speech, which means the different parts of a sentence and when and why they are used. For example I learned there are transitive verbs which are followed by an object straight away and usually do something to someone. On the other hand we have intransitive verbs, which can stand on their own. Another part of the unit I wasn’t aware of were is the Gerund, even though we all use it frequently. A good example for a Gerund is “Cooiking food has always been my hobby”. I also enjoyed to learn more about the different types of pronouns e.g. personal, possessive, reflexive. I will need to be in particular aware of the difference between possessive pronouns which replace a noun e.g. mine and possessive adjectives, which describe a noun e.g. my. Overall the unit gave me a good understanding of some basic grammar as well as the pitfalls or tricky parts to teach to the students in a class.
