This unit covered pronunciation and how to teach students about the many complications in the English language. I think that this will be the most challenging part to teaching students, especially if they have had multiple teachers with different accents, such as Canadian and Irish, then students will be confused and may have a difficult time understanding someone with a different accent. To combat this, I think that many audio or video tapes should try to be played in different accents so they can get a feel for the different ways a word can be pronounced but still be understood. I think one-on-one tutoring of this will be very useful, and if possible a memory trick should be used to help with remembering pronunciation.
