Unit 4: Present Tense overviews the 12 form of present tense used in English.
Present Simple can be used to state facts, describe routine actions and for instructions. Students may be confused when forming third person singular verbs.
Present Continuous can be used to talk about actions in progress or describe developing situations. Students may be confused by non-progressive verbs such as 'love'.
Present Perfect can be used when talking about an action which begun in the past and is still active. Irregular past participles may cause confusion for students. Eg eat - eaten.
Past Perfect Continuous is used to describe a recently finished activity with a present result. Students may have trouble differentiating between Past Perfect Continuous, which emphasizes the action, with Past Perfect, which emphasizes the result.
