This unit contained the roles and responsibilities of both the teacher and the learner. I enjoyed learning the attributes of a good teacher and knowing which role to take and when. Some of the teacher roles discussed were: Manager, organizer, Assessor, Prompter, Participant, Tutor, Model and Monitor. Each played an important role in teaching the learner.
The Learner section explained the ages, motivations and behaviors of English Learners, The Young Learners were split into 3 categories by age:
Ages 2-7 Preschoolers
Ages 8-13 Pre-puberty
Ages 14-18 Post-puberty
Adult learners are those 18 years of age and older.
The final component of this unit discussed many reasons why student decide to attend a English class. No matter the reason you have a student; a motivated student has a greater chance at success. As a teacher you can help motivate by making lessons enjoyable and interesting.
The relationship between the teacher and learner is very important. As a result, "A good teacher will likely have a good student."
