This unit covered the conditionals in the english language which are the sentences that say " If this happens, then that happens". There happen to be 5 types of conditionals which are zero conditional, first conditional, second conditional, third conditional, and mixed conditional. Each conditional is used depending on whether it was the past tense, present, or future tense. This is show through the form of the conditional and it also explained the usages for each conditional. There were also teaching ideas for each conditional and common mistakes and errors that students tend to come across when learning the conditionals. Next, the lesson taught me about reported speech and direct speech and how to convert reported speech into direct speech. This includes changing not only verb tenses, but actual words as well to make sure the new speech matches what the old speech was saying. For example if the reported speech said tomorrow, one must change tomorrow into the next day or something similar to this, to make sure the sentence stays factual. It also explained how pronouns must sometimes be changed depending on the context. When the tenses change, this is called backshifting, such as this and here becoming that and there.
