wow! what a lesson! Everything was new to me. In this lesson we learn what is the most neglected aspect in teaching a language:pronunciation and phonology. first we learn that the intonation changes in a sentence can actually give a different meaning although the same words are used. Intonation is the variation in volume. Stress is more about individual words. We learned where it is generally placed although there are exceptions. we also learn the different position of the mouth in order to produce the sounds of the English language. All these sounds have a name such as palatal, palatal-alveolar etc. which indicates which part of the mouth is used most. We also learned how to read the pronunciation of words using the symbols used in a dictionary.
