The videos for unit 10 and 11 are a great compare and contrast view into an English teacher actually working with students in a classroom. This is a great demonstration for teachers. Some teachers do not like to be videotaped which is a great method that can help one to improve. The videos are an excellent way to show the difference between classroom strategies that work, and the negative effects on students if they are not used. From the very beginning in video one, the teacher does not introduce himself, ask the students who they are, and he does not even smile. In video two, the teacher is friendly, he smiles, introduces himself, has the students introduce themselves and he uses the board. In video one, the teacher jumps right into the topic, while in video two the teacher follows ESA. The videos continue down different pathways with too much teacher talk in video one and more student talk in video two. It is helpful to see ESA in action!
