In this unit, I learnt about the use of course books and teaching materials when teaching English to students. In particular I learnt about the differences and benefits of using authentic and created materials. This unit was insightful in the sense that it provided examples of both advantages and disadvantages of using course books. Normally, one would not consider the disadvantages of course books as they would intuitively perceive them to only be advantageous. Finally, this unit offere useful advice on effective use of textbooks, encouraging teachers to adapt the content to their own needs and to replace, omit and supplement material where necessary.
