The unit is about parts of speech.it is a category of the words based on their function in a sentence.
noun, verb, article, adjectives, adverbs, preposition, conjunction, pronoun, gerunds.In this unit we have learnt how to simplify parts of speech and how to identify them in a sentence.
NOUN- Place, thing, ideas ( London, table,hope, music)
noun is further divided into - proper noun, common noun, collective noun, possessive noun.
we have one more division of noun as - countable noun and uncountable noun.
VERB - Action words or state of being (run ,walk,catch )
verb is divided as transitive verb and intransitive verb
verb is also divide as regular verbs and irregular verb.
PRONOUN - pronoun take the place of noun.( i, she , he , her , his , mine, your)
pronoun is divided as personal pronoun and possessive pronoun.
ADJECTIVES - theses words describe or modify noun or pronoun ( sweet , slowly, beautiful,)
divided into comparatives and superlative ( good, better, best)
ADVERBS - adverb modify verb, adjectives,and other verb.
e.g she is extremely beautiful girl.
Article - these are mainly divided into two forms definite articles (the) and indefinite articles (a , an ).
PREPOSITION - preposition show the relationship between noun and a pronoun and some other word in the rest of the sentences. e.g at, in, into,
CONJUNCTION - conjunction join two words, phrase, clause. ( and, but, yet, nor ).
CONCLUSION :- To summarize the above content, parts of speech is a base and a integral part of English grammar.It plays a very imperative role in building English language skills in students.
