Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

The unit gives a detailed introduction about conditionals and reported speech. A. Conditionals: are sentences which have two clauses: the "if" clause (containing "if" or "when") and the main clause, and either can come in the first part of a conditional sentence. The "if" clause contains the conditions that has to be satisfied before the action or state in the main clause can be released. There are 5 conditionals in English and each has its own form and usage: Zero conditional, First conditional, Second conditional, Third conditional, and Mixed conditional. Some ideas for teaching Conditionals are also covered in this unit: Split sentences, Complete the conditional, Chain conditionals, What a question!, Nuclear bunker role play, What would happen if... B. Reported/Indirect speech: is used to repeat, without quoting the exact words spoken, what someone previously said . As the potential mistakes/errors in using this speech is enormous, the teacher needs to be slowly and thoroughly in teaching the students about each of the following changes: - Verb tenses: When the reporter uses a reporting verb in the past, the backshift will occur to most of the verbs of the reported content. However, there are exceptions which the teacher and students need to notice. - The pronoun denoting who is spoken to can change depending on the context. And pronouns such as "this", "these" or adverb like "here" will also change accordingly. - Time expressions are also modified if there is a backshift. Three ideas for teaching reported speech: Intermediary role-play, Reporting verbs, and Media interviews. This unit is a clear and concise revision of what I had learnt before about these two language points: Conditionals, and Reported Speech. Thank you for the lesson!
