Perhaps even more intimidating to some teachers than actually teaching, evaluating your student and providing feedback are both daunting and vital. It can be very easy to make a mistake when correcting and examining and student. Examination errors or underestimating the student's english level just to name a few. This chapter has strengthened my ability to examine a student and assess their abilities for placement and/or examination (if that is the student's ultimate goal). It has also stressed the importance of conducting these types of tests before any language course to help both the student(s) and the teacher. By assessing their level/fluency before the course, teachers help themselves become aware of individual needs and obstacles for their student's, and it helps them by also recognizing what they need to improve and what they need to expect from themselves.
