In this unit, i first get to know some common teaching methods, as a language teacher, i should vary my teachind method according to different situations, but some general rules to bear in mind are that students need as much exposure to language as possible, anxiety and stress level should be low and students should be encouraged to discover language by themselves. Based on some most popular and effective methods, Jeremy Harmer put forward an effective approach called 'ESA' - engage, study and activate, all ESA lessons comprise of the three components, to meet the need of different level students, teachers can vary the order of the components and the only rule is that all lessons should start with an engage stage and finish with an activate stage, at each stage, a teacher should know what techniques are best suited to it. Apart from these, giving feedback, correcting mistakes and lesson planning are also very important.
