This unit covers different techniques for managing a classroom. There are different ways to arrange the seats, which can depend on the class size, the age, and the space among other factors. For example the room can be arranged in a horseshoe shape if there are not a lot of students, which creates an intimate feeling where the students can all see each other. Or, the classroom can have group tables which is great for group work, but would be difficult for a teacher to keep the attention of all students. This unit also gives examples of how to build rapport and show students that the teacher is invested and interested in teaching. To build rapport, students can ask each other opinion questions, and the teacher can show personal interest in each student.
