In this unit I learned there are four different skills involved in learn English. The four skills are broken down into two different categories. The first category is for the receptive skills (reading and listening) while the second category is for the productive skills (speaking and writing) All of the skills are of equal importance and where ever possible we should try to use all of them in our lesson plans. This will give our students a more balanced lesson. I also learned there are two main reasons for reading, such as reading for a purpose and reading for entertainment. Reading for a purpose might include things like getting directions or to learn a language, while reading for entertainment would be like reading a novel for the enjoyment of the story.
