This unit focused on the different specialized groups that might pursue an education that includes learning English. I personally find it fascinating to see how many different demographics pursue the learning of English. An English teacher can work with the youngest of children or with the most refined of adults from the business world. It is truly incredible to see how many different demands there are for English, and how these demands come from all different areas. This unit was especially intriguing to me as it addressed the typical needs of different groups of English learners, and how one can meet those needs. Given that being an English teacher can take one's career in a hundred different directions, knowing some of the difficulties that each demographic grouping might present can lend itself to the teacher's pursuit of a field within teaching English that is best suited to that teacher's desires and pedagogy.
