Again, as I studied this unit, I found myself in awe of the intricacies within English that are so easily overlooked by native speakers. The gift that it is to have naturally learned the changing of verb tenses in converting direct speech to reported speech as well as the conditionals in English and how and when to use them is an enormous weight lifted from my development as a natural English learner. For those learning English as a second language, these details can become quite a frustration, and as a native speaker, I would not have known how to explain these details and why English operates this way. This unit provided a quite clear and practical explanation of conditionals and reported speech, and I feel much more confident now that I could explain and discuss this area of the English language with those who are learning how to use conditionals.
