I found this unit to be extraordinarily interesting. As communications was another major that I was considering at the beginning of my college career, I found that this brief study of phonetic language and the stresses and intonations typically found in English speaking areas to be incredibly intriguing. One of the largest parts of fluency in a language is learning the intonations that typically accompany the language, and coming from my own experience as a learner of a foreign language, correct intonation can make or break the communication between a native speaker and a foreign speaker. Being more knowledgable about the intonations and stresses that accompany English will certainly help me to create more natural-sounding English speakers, which will benefit my students greatly when it comes to communicating with native speakers of the language.
