Observing the contrast between these two lessons was incredibly beneficial to me. At first, as I watched the first lesson, I was able to find many areas in which I felt that the teacher and lesson were lacking. When I began to watch the second video, however, I immediately noticed an incredibly vast difference between the engagement levels and rapport that the teacher drew from the class. I found myself highly engaged as an observer by the teacher. It is very clear that the teacher in the second lesson is deliberately making small applications that greatly impact the engagement level of his class, such as using names, calling on students after he asks a question, leaving gaps for students to fill constantly, and maintaining an atmosphere in which students feel comfortable sharing and discussing the concepts that they learned. This video made me very excited to teach and apply the concepts that I have been learning in this course.
