Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This Unit provided me with an overview of the roles of both the teacher and the student in an English learning classroom. During any class session or individual lesson, a teacher typically takes on a variety of roles including manager, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, facilitator, model, and observer. Each of these roles are equally important and demand different skills and knowledge to execute properly. I now also have a deeper understanding of the complex factors and diverse backgrounds that students can bring to the English learning classroom. These factors include age, learning experience, motivation, nervousness, language awareness, behavior problems, life experience and culture. In order for a teacher to effectively engage and support all learners in their classroom, each one of these factors for EACH student must be considered. Often this means tailoring lessons to fit students' needs, while also being adaptable and mindful of the need for change during a lesson. These factors also influence how likely it is that a student enter the classroom as a 'good learner.' For example, young learned may be less motivated to begin learning English because they may be enrolled in the course without having a choice. In this case, the teacher would be responsible to establish great rapport and motivation for that student. Conversely, an adult learner may be more nervous about taking risks than a young learner and the teacher would then be required to establish a safe classroom environment to encourage learners to take more chances. Finally, this unit introduced me to the categories of English language proficiency, using a scale from Beginner to Advanced, as well as the Common European Framework models.
