In Unit 7, it taught me how to teach a new language. It taught me how to teach vocabularies, grammar and functions using the Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) teaching method. There are so many vocabularies in English language and knowing which vocabularies to teach in which level is quite challenging. It is because when I learn a new vocabulary just once, I will not remember it the next time. I believe practising the new vocabulary in a sentence will help to remember the new vocabulary. From the unit, the criteria to select a vocabulary to teach is to see whether the vocab is appropriate to the students, to see how often students are going to come across these vocabularies and more.
I like how there are different activities in each sections of teaching vocabularies, grammar and functions. The activates listed are fun for a classroom setting and will engage students for example, in engage phase for teaching a vocabulary, I can use pictures, discussion, action and mime and so on.
