Unit 14 demonstrates the disadvantages and advantages of course books and lesson materials. The two types of of material are authentic materials and created materials. Authentic materials are more interesting and motivating, students gain confidence when they understand them and can be geared to the interest of a particular group of students. Created materials can be graded to the level of the students and include crossword, word search puzzles, role-play cards, flashcards, etc. Some teacher omit certain lessons from the course book if their are not beneficial or relevant to their students, they can also replace, supplement, and or adapt. If a teacher is fortunate enough to be able to choose the course book for a particular class they can choose one that is appealing and easy for the students to understand and with clear and concise material.
