This was very helpful to watch both videos to compare and contrast the actions in the classroom between the two. One thing that is very clear is how the teacher "sets the stage" for how successful a lesson will or will not be. In the first video, the teacher is condescending, launches right in to the lesson without engaging the students and then he fails to notice how confused they all are. He doesn't engage them individually and has a negative effect on morale by calling some students losers. In the second video the teacher is friendlier, introduces himself, engages the students through a practice they understand, uses their names, and checks for understanding. It is clear how much better the students are doing in the second video.
