Four things are required for students to acquire new language: exposure to it, understanding its meaning, comprehending how it is constructed and practicing and producing it. New language is taught in different areas, two of which are grammar and vocabulary.The ESA method can be used for both of these, and unit gives specific suggestions for ideas that are appropriate to engage students, allow them to study and activate their learning. It is important when selecting new language to introduce that the teacher considers how appropriate the words are to the learners, how appropriate they are to the task at hand, how frequently that word will be encountered and how often it will be used, and how "teachable" it is. For example, beginners need words that are clearly conveyed and can be represented visually.
