When we talk about course books, there are many different opinions about them. Some teachers have positive opinion about them but on the other side, some of them think that course books are not enough for teaching and they should prepare more materials by themselves. We can divide materials into two groups: authentic materials (programs, magazines, newspaper, etc.) and created materials (crosswords, word search puzzles, flashcards, etc.). Authentic materials are real and interesting for students and they should gain confidence when they understand them. Created materials are authentic and designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials from a course book. Course books contain student’s book, workbook, videos, other materials (test book, dictionaries, etc.) but also teachers should use supplements when it’s needed.
