In this Unit first we see that past tenses are past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. Past simple tense we use for past actions when the time is given or is asked about, and also when the action clearly took place at a definite time. Many common verbs in English have irregular simple past, which means they are not created by adding -ed. Past continuous we use interrupted past actions, without time expression, for an action which began before that time and continue after it, for descriptions. Past perfect represent actions that occurred before other actions in the past. Past perfect continuous describe longer actions in the past continuously up to the past moment that we are thinking about.
