There were no surprises or unexpected content in the unit on lesson planning. Writing an outline of your lesson allows the teacher to stay on a structured track yet not letting them read their notes verbatim. A large part of being a teacher is being flexible and go with the flow, for example, if they notice all of their students aren't understanding a grammar point or vocabulary word then they may need to readjust their lesson plan to spend more time clarifying the misconceptions. Listing end goals for the students and the teacher are vital because then they can self check and see if they are on a track to completing their goals. The blank and written lesson plan was incredibly helpful to show how detailed or not detailed a lesson plan can be and what's necessary to include when planning. A sentence or two to introduce that the lesson was over and below were example worksheets would have been helpful or the example worksheets could have correlated to the lesson plan on page 4. To me, four integral parts to include in a lesson plan were learner objectives, language point, timing and interaction out of the twelve things listed. I believe that having an end goal of what you want your students to leave your classroom creates a path and the teacher is able to see whether or not they are accomplishing that goal with their activities. Language points is the theme for the lesson and how it fits in with past and future lessons, teaching has to be a slow progression of putting together the building blocks (grammar) before throwing in large vocabulary. Figuring out the timing allows the teacher to know if they need to include more activities or lessons or if they need to take out a study 2 phase. If the teacher thinks about the interaction (teacher-student or student-student) and they realize their lesson plan is all teacher- student then they can readjust before it's too late and allow more speaking time for the students. All twelve parts are important to consider when planning the lesson but those four stood out to me as good indicators if you're on the right track, if the students are speaking enough and if the lesson neatly follows the previous.
