In this unit I learned several different teaching methods. They include Classical, Suggestopedia, Direct (or Natural), Total Physical Response, The Silent Way, and ESA. There are also techniques outside of the ESA (Engage, Study Activate) lesson that can be used to help keeps classes interesting and less predictable. There's the Patchwork lesson which doesn't have a set structure to it, and there's the Boomerang lesson which has two Activate sections as opposed to just one like that of the Straight forward ESA lesson. I learned about tons of different ways to engage students, including memory games, fizz-buss, alphabet games, word linking, I spy, ect. This unit also stressed the importance of corrections and how words of praise are just as important as making sure the student knows when an error has been made.
