In this unit I've learned more about proper techniques to teach vocabulary, grammar and functions. It was beneficial to gain more of an understanding of the student thought process in acquiring these new language skills, and the importance to students on the exposure of the new language, understanding its meaning, how its used and how to practice it. It was also great to see examples of a specific lesson plan and the lesson type chosen, ex. patchwork v.s. straight-arrow. The re-cap on which activities to do during the engage, study and activate phase was also a helpful reminder. In addition, the language function section was especially helpful to me in understanding what kind of task will help strengthen student understanding, ie. role-playing aspects of refusing, agreeing, suggesting, etc.
