There are similar core values between a teacher and a learner that if either do not posses then the educational process is limited. Both the students and teachers need to be enthusiastic and engaged with the material in order for their language skills to further develop. For young learners (0-7 years old), teachers should present the material in songs, drawings, and stories because of their short attention span and young age. For older learners (13 years old and older) the material may be verbally taught, presented in reading assignments, or group activities. The acceptance of an error and the gentle correction of an error are two more important qualities in a teacher/learner relationship. A large part of learning in understanding why you made the mistake so that next time you do not make the mistake. Teachers will play many different roles throughout a class period to provide ample learning opportunities to the different types of learners. Some students learn best from listening so when the teacher is in the model position and explaining something or others may learn best when teachers are facilitators and have the learners participate in group activities.
