Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This was another useful unit with lots of useful information for teaching the two Productive skills of speaking and writing. From past experiences in learning I can appreciate that if the students don't see the point in doing something then they would be less willing to participate. Choosing relevant and interesting topics is essential. This unit delves further into Accuracy vs Fluency than in the video lesson. The '3 by 3' drilling during the Controlled activity is a very useful technique for checking individual pronunciation. This technique would have benefitted the students in Lesson 1 video in Unit 10. The guidelines for creating a free/creative speaking activity provided some helpful tips. Preparation is key. Giving good instructions and checking that the students understand what to do is essential. Being flexible with the timings of the activity as it may take the students longer to prepare the material before they can start the main activity. Don't over correct as free speaking activities are more about fluency than accuracy. Providing positive feedback and focusing on what the students do well is important. Common mistakes can mentioned briefly and addressed at another time . The writing section I think can be a bit of a nightmare. Yes, it will be easy enough to check that the alphabet letters are correctly formed. Our spelling has many peculiarities that may cause problems but equally provide some good teaching lessons with fun activities. The different styles of writing i.e. postcard, email and formal should be easy enough to cover. Do we need to teach "text speak"? I have never sent a text in my life, nor do I wish to! What I will find difficult is correcting students written work - how far does one go in corrections so as not to totally depress the student? I hope this is something that will be covered in future units.
