This unit examines some of the language teaching methods. Comparing their different techniques, we realize that each one has its benefits and disavantages. ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) incorporates the best of the other systems.
Engage means to get the students involved and interested in discussing what they know about the lesson's topic. Through games, music, pictures and other activities, the students will become encouraged to start thinking and talking in English.
Study involves learning new facts, concepts and ideas. This can be done with books, worksheets, and writing practice.
Activate means the students use what they have learned in the study phase by using different activities such as role-plays, communication games, discussions or debates. Its purpose is to get the students to express themselves as naturaly and communicatively as possible to improve their fluency.
