In this unit, I learnt different tests and assessments are used at different stages to measure the students' level of English. Before beginning a course, it is important to allow students to take a placement test or diagnostic test in order to find out where the student is at in terms of knowledge of English and where to begin the lesson. After few lessons, it is important to measure the students' progress by a progress test.When a student is preparing for an external exam such as TOEFL, CPE or other Cambridge exams, it is helpful to measure the student's ability by a practice test.
