Wow! The phonetic script is initially challenging and then after spending a little bit of time you can read it. The 13th unit focused on pronunciation and phonology. In English, tone, inflections, intonations and stress can change the mood of what you're conveying. If you angrily, in a flat voice say "I love you." it will leave the listener confused because of the mixed signals. The normal pattern is rise/fall signifying that the speaker has finished their thought. If it is fall then rise then it is generally a question or something that the second person should respond to because of the incline at the end of the sentence. Rarely are articles, prepositions or pronouns emphasized/stressed because they generally are not the key words that convey the message.
