Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

This unit explained the role of the teacher in managing and organizing the class using various methods such as maintaining an eye contact with the students, using gestures which add visual interest and aid the teacher to convey the meanings of language and varying his voice according to the type of activity, and the size of the class. There are various ways to group the students and each of them has advantage and disadvantages. The teacher should mix between these ways during the class. These ways include grouping the whole class, pairwork, groupwork and allowing students to work individually. Regarding seating arrangements, the teacher must consider various factors before arranging the class, such as the room size, students' age, nationality, and personality. The students can be seated in: 1)Orderly rows: it is the traditional form of seating and is best suited for large classes. 2)Circles and horseshoes: it is effective in small classes and it facilitates pairwork. 3)Separate tables. The teacher can either stand or sit depending on the role that he is performing. In reading activities, and activate stage, it is better for the teacher to sit, while he should stand during language presentation, and when he gives instructions. There should be a balance between teacher talking time and student talking time. While it is important for the teacher to talk when he gives instructions, do presentations, explaining the language and explaining rapport, students should be given as much time to talk as possible. When giving instructions, the teacher should use simple language that students can understand. He should also, be consistent and use the same words for giving the same instructions. He should use visual clues to demonstrate the instructions and ask the students to explain the instruction to check their understanding. To maintain discipline, it is important for the teacher to: 1)Be fair and treat students equally. 2)Respect the students. 3)Be punctual. 4)Avoid shouting and losing his temper. 5)Make his lessons interesting. 6)Make sure that he can carry out his threats. I have learned in this unit how to organize the class, establish rapport with the students, achieve a balance between being firm and creating a relaxed learning environment.
