I learnt that having a well thought out and flexible lesson plan is a requisite for having a successful teaching experience. It enables teachers to keep the lesson on track and manage time more effectively. It helps with allocation of time for exercises and reduce unnecessary time wasting activities that are used to fill time gaps in order to think of the next activity to do. In preparing a lesson plan, I learnt that it is important to consider not only what I would like the students to achieve by the end of the lesson, but also what I would like to improve on in teaching. This helps to generate feedbacks from students and self-feedback after the class. In considering the objectives and aims, it is also important to think of various problems that might prevent achieving those goals and possible solutions to counteract the issues that might arise.
