In this unit I have learnt different ways of evaluating students levels and progress in learning the language. Student can be evaluated through tutorials, evaluation by the students and tests. Tutorials is used through the whole group or with individual students, Evaluation can be very useful to ask the students to evaluate their course by means of questionnaire or guided discussion. Test is often given at different stages in a course. In this unit I have learnt about different kinds of tests with different purposes. This unit mentioned Placement test, progress test, diagnostic test, practice test, general external examination, Cambridge assessment and Trinity College for Esol. Placement test is for new students to be placed int the correct class according to their language ability. Progress test is done periodically to gauge what language has been acquired and forgotten, Diagnostic test is given at the start of the course to check what the student already know.Practice test is for preparing the external exams.
