In this unit, I learned about the factors that go into selecting vocabulary. When selecting vocabulary, certain criteria are important to be followed: how appropriate the vocabulary is for the students, how appropriate it is for the task to be completed, how frequently it is used, and how teachable the vocabulary is. Students need to be able to understand vocabulary's meaning, use, spelling, pronunciation, grammar and interaction with other words. In this lesson, examples were given of the type of ESA activities that can be done to help students learn vocabulary. ESA consists of straight-arrow, boomerang, and patchwork lessons.
