I learned that there is four different present tenses, simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. Each one can have 3 different forms such as positive, negative and question forms. If you mix and match them there are 12 in all different present tenses. The present tense is how we use words when something is happening now in time. There are different rules of usage for each present tense. There are many different games and strategies to teach the present tense. For present simple we can do a find someone game, or guess my profession game. Present continuous can be taught by telling stories and miming. Present perfect can be taught by role playing a job interview, what have you done today miming. Lastly we can teach present perfect continuous by surveying who has done something the longest. This is a very hard part of english to comprehend so making it light and fun will be necessary to keep the students engaged.
