The direct and reported speech was a complicated part of the unit. It really required me to rethink how I report on what had been said. It is a part of speech that I have taken for granted and have not put much effort into learning correctly. It was a struggle to amend my own sloppiness in this particular part of the English Language. I found it challenging and refreshing as I went through the unit. I also did not realize there were so many conditional statements. This too was a good review. I can already anticipate the fun a class might have in learning the difference between direct and reported speech especially since it incorporates many of the verb tenses the language has to offer.
