Grammar is the framework on which languages and speech are built upon, and is crucial in learning a language. This unit contained definitions and examples to the different parts of speech in English, from articles, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions etc. Even as a native speaker of English, or perhaps especially as a native speaker of English, we are often the ones to forget the names of specific parts of speech; gerund, for example, is a category whose name I had forgotten. Although this second nature is precisely what gives way for fluency in a language, if we are unable to explain why English is the way it is we fail to be a useful resource to our learners. Thus, we have to constantly remind ourselves of these structures to be able to adequately communicate them and teach them to learners.
