The part of this unit that stood out to me the most was the focus on different cohorts that one might encounter when teaching. The two main groups discussed were younger students and students learning English for specific purposes. Each of these groups have different reasons for learning English and therefore, require different methods of instruction. What I took away as the emphasis was the value placed on differentiating each lesson to best fit the needs of the individual student while uniting the class as a whole.
