This unit 20 of troubleshooting for student's common problem situations is good. I have learned the basic of not using the text book the first lesson. I plan on doing a verbal discussion, role play, build rapport with different warmer games then close the classroom with letting the students know the setup for their lesson time. Questions are not expected but I will give time for each student to talk to me individually about their interests and needs if need be. I saw in this unit how given them time would make them feel comfortable in the classroom. Keeping large classes engaged at all times with extra work is a must. So I am thinking about preparing for more and if that is not possible but I have students that finish their work faster they might be able to use the extra material I had prepared. For the reading and listening issues, I will be overviewing difficult vocabulary as this unit mentioned the problems but did not give any solutions, I went back to unit 11 where the reading and listening -receptive skills issues are overviewed and took examples from there. The use of native language and difficulties listening can also be addressed by reviewing difficult vocabulary first. I intend on coaching reluctant students and with this unit's tips, I will apply using plenty of pair work, controlled practice, role-play, and tape recorded if available.
