What I learned from the unit is that the relationship of the teacher and the learner can determine the success or failure of language teaching and learning. Teachers fulfill certain roles in a language classroom to achieve particular learning goals and objectives. Language teachers design their activities by considering several factors such as age, culture, language level, and other relevant considerations. The unit also did not discount the need for teacher-centered approach in teaching especially when there is a need for such approach. But a student-centered approach is very valuable in language learning because such approach considers the interests of learners. At the end of the day, it is always important that the language learning needs of the students are addressed by the teacher. This way, students become more motivated in learning a foreign or second language.
