This unit illustrates the past tense of the verb. It has four forms such as simple past, past perfect, past continuous and past perfect continuous. Past tense is used to indicate that something happened in the past with a definite time. Past perfect on the other hand is used when one activity has completed before another activity in the past. Present continuous is used when describing for events in the past but may be happening at the time of speaking. Meanwhile, the past perfect continuous is being neglected to be taught in esl classes although it has major purpose which is to describe past activity after another activity that may be happening at the time of speaking.
