I feel as though the most important take away from this lesson is the importance of trying to cater the topic discussed in class to the interests of the students and keep a variety. I know that when I have been a student in the past it has been much easier to stay involved in the lesson when the instructor does this.
This unit also, once again, caused me to reflect on previous language courses I have taken. My college Spanish teacher would frequently use lessons similar to the example on page 4&5 about famous people from Spanish speaking countries to help us both learn the language and learn about the cultures surrounding it.
In a similar vein, I also reflected upon some lessons in language courses in the past where we were told to listen to a dialogue from the particular language and answer questions about them. This was easily the most difficult thing I had to do in these classes so I will try to be conscious about how difficult this could be for my students in the future
