In this unit I learned the dynamic between the teacher and student and what makes a successful teacher. Part of being a successful teacher is using a variety of teaching methods. There are a variety of teaching roles such as, the manager and you're taking full control of the class and teaching the students, or organizing group actives so students can learn English themselves. Its important to use a variety of roles so that the students stay motivated and the class is enjoyable for everyone. I also learned how age plays a big factor in the class room dynamic. I found it most interesting the differences between an adult learner and a young learner. For example, adult learners have a more difficult time with language awareness because they match English words with their native language, and young learners understand English by context clues. I also learned about the different language levels and some of the pros and cons that come with each level. For example a lower level learner class may be more fun to teach but there is a communication barrier. A higher level class might seem easier because they understand English, however their level may not be improving and its the teachers responsibility to motivate students to take more responsibility to grow.
