This unit is about teaching receptive skills to the students. It is about how we understand written and spoken language different, due to the possibility of reading things over and over versus only hearing it once. It also differentiates between reading/listening for a purpose, og for entertainment, and some of the different ways to listen and read; E.g. Predictive, scanning, skimming, detailed information, and deductions. I have learned how to overcome some of the difficulties in teaching receptive skills, by for example pre-teaching vocabulary, and to be careful to select texts/audio/video that is of interest to the students. Also how to help create interest, to get a greater enthusiasm to engage in tge material.
