In unit 13, I learned the importance of teaching the art of proper pronunciation when teaching English. The sounds that each letter make and the place from where they originate in the mouth are equally as important as learning the word itself. Teaching inflection is also important as many words in English are spelled the same but have a different pronunciation and/or meaning when used properly in a sentence. This can be confusing for the student. Another valuable tool for helping with full mastery of the language is to teach the phonemic alphabet. This is a very hard lesson to teach but if mastered by the student then they will be able to read the entire dictionary and sound out the correct pronunciation of words in English.
