This unit was a quick review of how to deal with potential problems in the classroom, covering issues from establishing rapport in your first class, carrying out assessments, dealing with multi-level classes, the use of the first language, large classes, reluctant students and difficulties with listening activities. The approaches to all of these situations were pedagogically sound with a strong sensitivity to affective considerations. However, I feel like these principles would have been better to be placed again and again in all the preceding units, as they are good practical strategies that teachers need to use repeatedly until they become second nature.
